Adaptive methods of moving car detection in monocular image sequences

چکیده
Computer vision applications for traffic scene analysis and autonomous navigation (driver support) require highly sophisticated sensors and computation methods – they constitute a real challenge for image analysis systems. Common to both applications is the moving object detection/tracking task. In this paper we study this task on four different data abstraction levels: image segmentation, 2-D object tracking, model-based 3-D object tracking and many-object traffic scene description. Two meanings of the term ”adaptive” are considered: learning algorithms or connectionist systems and recursive estimation for dynamic systems. Generally the first approach may be applied for lowand segmentation-level analysis of finite image sequences, whereas the second approach is suitable for 2-D and 3-D object tracking and estimation.

Adaptive Foreground and Shadow Detection in Image Sequences
This paper presents a novel method of foreground segmentation that distinguishes moving objects from their moving cast shadows in monocular image sequences. The models of background, edge information, and shadow are set up and adaptively updated. A Bayesian belief network is proposed to describe the relationships among the segmentation label, background, intensity, and edge information. The not...

Today, with the advancement of technology, the use of tools for extracting information from video are much wider in terms of both visual power and the processing power. High-speed car, perfect detection accuracy, business diversity in the fields of medical, home appliances, smart cars, humanoid robots, military systems and the commercialization makes these systems cost effective. Among the most...
متن کاملAdaptive Spectral Separation Two Layer Coding with Error Concealment for Cell Loss Resilience
This paper addresses the issue of cell loss and its consequent effect on video quality in a packet video system, and examines possible compensative measures. In the system's enconder, adaptive spectral separation is used to develop a two-layer coding scheme comprising a high priority layer to carry essential video data and a low priority layer with data to enhance the video image. A two-step er...
متن کاملCharacter Reconstruction and Animation from Monocular Sequence of Images
In this paper we present different methods for the calibration and orientation of monocular image sequences and the 3D reconstruction of human characters. Three different situations are considered: a static character imaged with a moving camera, a moving character imaged with a fix camera and a moving character imaged with a moving camera. A self-acquired sequence is used in the first case whil...
متن کاملDetection of Moving Cast Shadows for Object Segmentation
To prevent moving shadows being misclassified as moving objects or parts of moving objects, this paper presents an explicit method for detection of moving cast shadows on a dominating scene background. Those shadows are generated by objects moving between a light source and the background. Moving cast shadows cause a frame difference between two succeeding images of a monocular video image sequ...
